What exactly got me into hentai?

Back at it again with a new post

Some of my friends have asked me before what actually got me into hentai in the first place? Why tentacles? Are you some kind of a lonely perv?

My first encounter with hentai was an accident. I was this edgy 13 year-old, I knew what hentai was and we made a lot of jokes about it with my friends. I was downloading manga to read (I guess it was Death Note) and as soon as I opened the file and got ready to read it, I got this tentacle porn scene from a hentai. Now I didn't know how to react. I was a bit surprised, but started reading anyway. I wanted to search the whole thing, and my investigation got me to Bible Black
After reading the synopsis of that hentai, I wanted to watch it.. Just for the hell of it. Now I've always thought that hentai was just anime porn. That it can't have any kind of a plot or anything, and you can't review it. Boy I was wrong. Bible Black was an eye opener for me, and it is my favorite hentai even to this day. After that I started watching more and here I am.

Gotta love those tentacles <3

Of course I didn't tell my friends or anyone back in the day. I was embarrassed, of course. I can still understand that mindset. What changed me, was that I found bunch of other people, reviewing hentai and visual novels. Openly discussing about roots of incest hentai and all other stuff like that. Most of my friends know by now that I watch hentai, and they are totally cool with it I guess. Heck, I'm proud of my browser history!
Of course My family doesn't know. Funny thing relating to this happened some time ago actually..
I was watching TV with my family and at some point, the movie made a hentai reference. That's when my mom poked me and asked me while laughing if I watched hentai... My browser history went through my eyes and I said no, that I didn't like that kind of stuff.
Don't tell my mom.

Honestly I don't feel the need to be ashamed of watching hentai. People buy doujinshi's that usually contain sexual themes. People like watching their ship sailing and the characters getting it on... So why hentai is looked down upon? Honestly I have never once found a doujin of Sebastian and Ciel from Kuroshitsuji, that wasn't porn. Fuck..

Why I like tentacles? I've always been drawn to creatures of the sea. I think tentacles are adorable. That's it, simple.

In conclusion, hentai can have a plot and can be reviewed just like any anime.
Thank you for reading!

  1. I must admit that this was an interesting (and funny) read. I'm not a fan of hentai myself, although I'm interested in your blog because of the review approach (and you're my best friend!) and, well, just like you I wonder why hentai is looked down upon and yet there's so much sexual doujinshis everywhere and fans shipping characters together and drawing them doing bedroom stuff. I mean, in the essence it's still the same thing so why is it shameful to watch/like hentai yet collecting/reading doujinshi is like a rather ordinary fan-thing to do?
